Verse 6.67

Sanskrit Text

अनुत्पादक्षयज्ञाने बोधिः तादनुलोम्यतः।
सप्तत्रिंशत्तु तत्पक्ष्याः नामतो द्रव्यतो दश॥६७॥

Transliteration

anutpādakṣayajñāne bodhiḥ tādanulomyataḥ |
saptatriṃśattu tatpakṣyāḥ nāmato dravyato daśa || 67 ||

Translation

Enlightenment (Bodhi) consists of the knowledge of the destruction [of defilements] and the knowledge of [their] non-arising. There are 37 factors conducive to it; while they have many names, they are ten in substance (Dravya).


Verse 6.68

श्रद्धा वीर्यं स्मृतिः प्रज्ञा समाधिः प्रीत्युपेक्षणे।
प्रश्रब्धिशीलसंकल्पाः प्रज्ञा हि स्मृत्युपस्थितिः॥६८॥

Transliteration

śraddhā vīryaṃ smṛtiḥ prajñā samādhiḥ prītyupekṣaṇe |
praśrabdhiśīlasaṃkalpāḥ prajñā hi smṛtyupasthitiḥ || 68 ||

Translation

[The ten are:] Faith, Energy, Mindfulness, Wisdom, Concentration, Joy, Equanimity, Serenity, Ethical Conduct, and Resolve. Indeed, the “Foundations of Mindfulness” are essentially Wisdom (Prajñā).


Verse 6.69

वीर्यं सम्यक्‍प्रहाणाख्यमृद्धिपादाः समाधयः।
प्रधानग्रहणं सर्वे गुणाः प्रायोगिकास्तु ते॥६९॥

Transliteration

vīryaṃ samyakprahāṇākhyamṛddhipādāḥ samādhayaḥ |
pradhānagrahaṇaṃ sarve guṇāḥ prāyogikāstu te || 69 ||

Translation

Energy is what is called “Right Effort”; the “Bases of Power” are types of Concentration. The names are given based on the predominant factor; all these qualities are acquired through practice (Prāyogika).
