Vedantasara - Verse 138

Sanskrit

तदुक्तम् - “सतत्त्वतोऽन्यथाप्रथा विकार इत्युदीरितः । अतत्त्वतोऽन्यथाप्रथा विवर्त इत्युदीरितः ॥” इति

Swami Nikhilananda's Translation

Thus it has been said: Vikara is the actual modification of a thing altering into another substance; while vivarta is only an apparent modification.
