Vedantasara - Verse 185

प्रकरणप्रतिपाद्यस्यार्थस्य तदाद्यन्तयोरुपपादनमुपक्रमोपसंहारौ । यथा छान्दोग्ये षष्ठाध्याये प्रकरणप्रतिपाद्यस्याद्वितीयवस्तुन
एकमेवाद्वितीयम्” (६.२.१) इत्यादौऐतदात्म्यमिदं सर्वम्” (६.८.७) इत्यन्ते च प्रतिपादनम्
Swami Nikhilananda's Translation
The beginning and the conclusion mean the presentation of the subject-matter of a section at its beginning and end. As, for instance, in the sixth chapter of the Chandogya Upanishad, Brahman, the One without a second, which is the subject-matter of the chapter, is introduced at the beginning in the words, “One only without a second” etc., (VI-2-1), and again at the end in the words, “In It, all that exists has its Self etc., (Vi-8-7).
