Vedantasara - Verse 29

Sanskrit

प्रयोजनं तु - तदैक्यप्रमेयगताज्ञाननिवृत्तिः स्वस्वरूपानन्दावाप्तिश्च तरति शोकम् आत्मवित् (छां उ ७.१.३) इत्यादिश्रुतेः” ब्रह्मविद् ब्रह्मैव भवति (मुण्ड उ ३.२.९) इत्यादिश्रुतेश्च

Swami Nikhilananda's Translation

The necessity is the dispelling of ignorance relating to that identity which is to be realised, as the attainment of bliss resulting from the realisation of one’s own Self. As in such Sruti passages, “The knower of Self overcomes grief” (Ch. Up. VII-1.3), “He who knows Brahman becomes Brahman” (Mund. Up. III-2-9).
