Vedantasara - Verse 73

Sanskrit

अयं कर्तृत्वभोक्तृत्वसुखित्वदुःखित्वाद्यभिमानत्वेनेहलोकपरलोकगामी व्यवहारिको जीव इत्युच्यते

Swami Nikhilananda's Translation

This Vijnanamayakosa, on account of its being conscious that it is an agent and enjoyer and that it is happy or miserable etc., is called the phenomenal Jiva (the individual self) subject to transmigration to this and the other worlds.
