अथ शान्तितपोबोधानां फलनिरूपणम्

Exposition on the Determination of the Fruits of Peace, Tapas, and Knowledge


Sutra 1

Sanskrit Text

शान्तेरैकात्म्यम् ॥ १ ॥

Translation

The fruit of Peace is the realization of absolute Oneness (non-duality).


Sutra 2

Sanskrit Text

तपसो दिव्यान् कामान् मानुषान् वा ॥ २ ॥

Translation

From Tapas (intensity), one attains desires, whether divine or human.


Sutra 3

Sanskrit Text

तरति बोधान्मृत्युम् ॥ ३ ॥

Translation

One transcends death through the power of Knowledge (pure awareness).


Sutra 4

Sanskrit Text

भूमदहरानुज्ञोद्गीथमधुशाण्डिल्यवारुणीसद्विद्याः शान्त्यै ॥ ४ ॥

Translation

The Vidyās of Bhūma, Dahara, Anujña-Udgītha, Madhu, Śāṇḍilya, Vāruṇī, and Sad are for the attainment of Peace.


Sutra 5

Sanskrit Text

ज्योतिर्वैश्वानरसंवर्गाक्षरमन्त्रोद्गीथपुरुषोद्गीथास्तपः ॥ ५ ॥

Translation

The Vidyās of Jyotis, Vaiśvānara, Saṃvarga, Akṣara, Mantra-Udgītha, and Puruṣa-Udgītha constitute Tapas.


Sutra 6

Sanskrit Text

उपकोसलव्यानोद्गीथाकाशोद्गीथानामुपास्तिर्बोधः ॥ ६ ॥

Translation

The practice of Upakosala, Vyāna-Udgītha, and Ākāśa-Udgītha Vidyās leads to Knowledge.


Sutra 7

Sanskrit Text

सर्वस्यात्मभावः शान्तिः ॥ ७ ॥

Translation

Peace is the subjective state of feeling the Self in all things.


Sutra 8

Sanskrit Text

आत्मवृत्तेरैकाग्र्यं तपः ॥ ८ ॥

Translation

Tapas is the absolute one-pointedness of the movements of the Self-awareness.


Sutra 9

Sanskrit Text

सर्वस्मादात्मनः पृथक्करणं बोधः ॥ ९ ॥

Translation

Knowledge is the analytical separation of the Self from everything that is non-self.
