Verse 13.4

कालीकटाक्षो वचनानि मह्यं ददातु मोचामदमोचनानि ।
यत्पातपूतं रघुवंशकारं नराकृतिं प्राहुरजस्य नारीम् ॥ १३.४॥

Word-by-word

काली-कटाक्षः (The side-glance of Kali) वचनानि (words/speech) मह्यम् (to me) ददातु (may [it] give) मोचा-मद-मोचनानि (those that release the pride of the banana/plantain); यत्-पात-पूतम् (purified by the falling of which [glance]) रघुवंश-कारम् (the author of Raghuvamsha [Kalidasa]) नर-आकृतिम् (in human form) प्राहुः (they say) अजस्य नारीम् (the woman/spouse of the Unborn [Shiva]).

Translation

May the glance of Mother Kali grant me words so sweet they humble the pride of the ripened banana. It was the fall of this very glance that so purified the author of Raghuvamsha (Kalidasa) that sages describe him as the Goddess Herself in a human male form—the very power of the Unborn Lord.

कर्णान्तिकस्थोऽपि न धर्मवैरी
कृष्णोऽपि मतार्नकुलं न पाति ।
शीतोऽपि सन्दीपयति स्मराग्निं
हरस्य ते शैलसुते कटाक्षः ॥ १३.१३॥

Word-by-word

कर्ण-अन्तिक-स्थः-अपि (though situated near the ear / though staying by the side of Karna) न (not) धर्म-वैरी (an enemy of righteousness / an enemy of Yudhisthira); कृष्णः-अपि (though black in color / though being Lord Krishna) मत्-तार-नकुलम् (the group of my pupils / the Pandava Nakula) न (not) पाति (protects); शीतः-अपि (though cool) सन्दीपयति (inflames/kindles) स्मराग्निम् (the fire of desire) हरस्य (of Lord Shiva) ते (Your) शैलसुते (O Daughter of the Mountain) कटाक्षः (side-glance).

Translation

O Daughter of the Mountain! Your side-glance, though it reaches all the way to Your ears, is not an enemy of righteousness. Though it is dark, it does not protect my “pupils.” Though it is cool, it kindles the fire of love in Lord Shiva.
