Verse 16.7
Sanskrit
श्रुता प्रवणचित्तं स्मृता नरमपापम् ।
धृता हृदि विधत्से गतस्वपरभावम् ॥ १६.७॥
Word-by-word
श्रुता (Heard) प्रवणचित्तम् (inclines the mind) स्मृता (remembered) नरम् (a person) अपापम् (sinless) धृता (held) हृदि (in the heart) विधत्से (you make/bring about) गत-स्व-पर-भावम् (the state where the sense of ‘self’ and ‘other’ has vanished).
Translation
When heard, it inclines the mind toward the Truth; when remembered, it renders a person sinless; and when held firmly in the heart, it brings about that state where the distinction between “self” and “other” completely disappears.
Verse 16.8

अहंमतितटिन्याः सतामवनिमूलम् ।
त्वमेव किल सेयं महर्षिरमणोक्तिः ॥ १६.८॥
Word-by-word
अहं-मति-तटिन्याः (Of the river of the ‘I-thought’) सताम् (of the wise) अवनि-मूलम् (the ground/source) त्वम् (you) एव (alone) किल (indeed) सा (that) इयम् (this) महर्षि-रमण-उक्तिः (speech/teaching of Maharshi Ramana).
Translation
Indeed, this very teaching of Maharshi Ramana is the ground and source for the “I-thought” river of the wise (leading it back to its origin).
Verse 16.11

प्रपश्यसि पराची जगद्विविधभेदम् ।
स्वतः किमपि नान्यत्प्रतीचि पुरतस्ते ॥ १६.११॥
Word-by-word
प्रपश्यसि (You see) पराची (outward-turned) जगत्-विविध-भेदम् (the world of diverse differences) स्वतः (of yourself) किमपि (anything) न-अन्यत् (not other than) प्रतीचि (inward-turned) पुरतः-ते (before you).
Translation
Looking outward, you see the world of diverse differences; looking inward, you see nothing other than your own Self appearing before you.
Verse 16.12
Sanskrit
स्तुता भवसि शश्वत् स्मृता च भजने त्वम् ।
धृता भवसि योगे तता भवसि बोधे ॥ १६.१२॥
Word-by-word
स्तुता (Praised) भवसि (you are) शश्वत् (always) स्मृता (remembered) च (and) भजने (in worship/devotion) त्वम् (you) धृता (held) भवसि (you are) योगे (in Yoga) तता (spread/pervading) भवसि (you are) बोधे (in Wisdom).
Translation
You are praised and remembered in the path of devotion; you are held firmly in the path of Yoga; and you are the all-pervading reality in the state of Wisdom.
Verse 16.13

स्तुता दिशसि कामं स्मृता हरसि पापम् ।
धृताऽस्यधिकशक्त्यै तता भवसि मुक्त्यै ॥ १६.१३॥
Word-by-word
स्तुता (Praised) दिशसि (you grant) कामम् (desires) स्मृता (remembered) हरसि (you take away) पापम् (sin) धृता-असि (you are held) अधिक-शक्त्यै (for greater power) तता (pervaded) भवसि (you are) मुक्त्यै (for liberation).
Translation
When praised, you grant desires; when remembered, you destroy sins; when held (in the heart), you bestow great power; and when fully realized, you become Liberation itself.
Verse 16.14
Sanskrit
विशुध्यति यताशी प्रमाद्यति न शुद्धः ।
प्रमादरहितस्य स्फुटे लससि कञ्जे ॥ १६.१४॥

विशुध्यति (Becomes pure) यताशी (one who eats temperately) प्रमाद्यति-न (does not lapse/forget) शुद्धः (the pure one) प्रमाद-रहितस्य (of one free from lapse) स्फुटे (in the bloomed) लससि (you shine) कञ्जे (in the lotus).
Translation
One who is temperate in food becomes pure; one who is pure does not fall into heedlessness; and in the bloomed lotus-heart of the heedless one, you shine resplendently.
Verse 16.15

स्फुटं यदि सरोजं नटीव पटु नाट्यम् ।
करोषि यतबुद्धेर्जगज्जननि शीर्षे ॥ १६.१५॥

स्फुटम् (Bloomed) यदि (if) सरोजम् (the lotus) नटी-इव (like a dancer) पटु (skillful) नाट्यम् (dance) करोषि (you perform) यत-बुद्धेः (of the one with controlled mind) जगज्जननि (O Mother of the world) शीर्षे (in the head/Sahasrara).
Translation
O Mother of the world! If the lotus (of the Sahasrara) has bloomed, you perform a skillful dance like a danseuse in the head of the one whose mind is controlled.
Verse 16.16

शिरोगतमिदं नः प्रफुल्लमयि पद्मम् ।
अनल्पमकरन्दं त्वमम्ब भव भृङ्गी ॥ १६.१६॥
Word-by-word
शिरः-गतम् (Located in the head) इदम् (this) नः (our) प्रफुल्लम् (fully bloomed) अयि (O) पद्मम् (lotus) अनल्प-मकरन्दम् (with abundant nectar) त्वम् (you) अम्ब (O Mother) भव (become) भृङ्गी (the female bee).
Translation
O Mother! May you become the honey-bee for this fully bloomed lotus in our head, which is overflowing with abundant nectar.
Verse 16.23

सुधाब्धिरिह मातस्तरङ्गशतमाली ।
चिदभ्रपुरमत्र प्रभापदमदभ्रम् ॥ १६.२३॥

सुधा-अब्धिः (Ocean of nectar) इह (here/in this body) मातः (O Mother) तरङ्ग-शत-माली (possessing a garland of hundreds of waves) चित्-अभ्र-पुरम् (the city of the sky of Consciousness) अत्र (here) प्रभा-पदम् (the place of light) अदभ्रम् (vast/abundant).
Translation
O Mother! Here (in the Sahasrara) is the ocean of nectar with its garland of hundreds of waves; here is the city of the sky of Consciousness, a place of vast and radiant light.
