Upadesha Sara - Verse 5

Sanskrit

जगत ईशधी युक्तसेवनम् ।
अष्टमूर्तिभृद्देवपूजनम् ॥ ५॥

Transliteration

jagata īśadhī yukta sevanaṃ
aśṭa-mūrti bhṛd deva-pūjanam

Translation

Ether, fire, air, water, earth,
Sun, moon and living beings
Worship of these,
Regarded all as forms of His,
Is perfect worship of the Lord.

अष्टमूर्तिभृद्देवपूजनं भवति । पञ्चमहाभूतानि सूर्याचन्द्रमसौ जीवश्चेश्वरस्याष्टौ मूर्तिविशेषा उच्यन्ते । This is the worship of the God who bears eight forms. The five great elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether), the Sun, the Moon, and the individual soul (Jiva) are called the eight special forms of the Lord.
