Vakyapadiya Verse 1.130-132

Sanskrit

अपि प्रयोक्तुरात्मानं शब्दमन्तरवस्थितम् । प्राहुर्महान्तमृषभं येन सायुज्यमिष्यते ॥ १३० ॥

तस्माद्यः शब्दसंस्कारः सा सिद्धिः परमात्मनः । तस्य प्रवृत्तितत्त्वज्ञस्तद्ब्रह्मामृतमश्नुते ॥ १३१ ॥

न जात्वकर्तृकं कश्चिदागमं प्रतिपद्यते । बीजं सर्वागमापाये त्रय्येवातो व्यवस्थिता ॥ १३२ ॥

Transliteration

api prayokturātmānaṃ śabdamantaravasthitam | prāhurmahāntamṛṣabhaṃ yena sāyujyamiṣyate || 130 ||

tasmādyaḥ śabdasaṃskāraḥ sā siddhiḥ paramātmanaḥ | tasya pravṛttitattvajñastadbrahmāmṛtamaśnute || 131 ||

na jātvakartṛkaṃ kaścidāgamaṃ pratipadyate | bījaṃ sarvāgamāpāye trayyevāto vyavasthitā || 132 ||

Translation

130. It has been said that the Self, which is within the speaker is the word, the great Bull with whom one desires union.

131. Therefore the purification of the word is (the means to the) attainment of the Supreme Self. One who knows the essence of its activity attains the immortal Brahman.

132. Nobody admits that there is any written tradition not associated with a particular author. When all such written traditions disappear, the three Vedas continue as the seed.
