Vakyapadiya Verse 1.135

Sanskrit

वेदशास्त्राविरोधी च तर्कश्चक्षुरपश्यताम् । रूपमात्राद्धि वाक्यार्थः केवलान्नावतिष्ठते ॥ १३५ ॥

Transliteration

vedaśāstrāvirodhī ca tarkaścakṣurapaśyatām | rūpamātrāddhi vākyārthaḥ kevalānnāvatiṣṭhate || 135 ||

Translation

135. Reasoning which does not go against the Vedas and the Śāstra is authority for those who cannot see. The meaning of a sentence does not become clear from its mere form.
