Katha Upanishad Verse 2.2.3

This verse describes the biological and spiritual functions directed by the Atman within the physical body. It regulates the vital breaths—leading the prāṇa upwards and casting the apāna downwards. Seated in the middle as the “dwarf” (the subtle, hidden ruler), this innermost Self is the object of worship and reverence for all the Devas (the divine faculties or powers).
